Green to run girls’, boys’ CC programs at TWHS
Coach Juris Green will take over the TWHS girls’ cross country program following coach Noel Hansen’s retirement, TWHS athletic director Jim Rapp announced.
“As many of you know, Juris is a former Highlander standout and he is beginning his 11th year as [boys’] head coach,” Rapp said. “He has won numerous District and Regional titles in both Track and Cross Country, along with two track State Championships and six state Cross Country titles.”
Green recognizes what lies ahead.
“I think running both programs is a real challenge at this level- however I know it can be done and be done very well,” Green said. “That is something I am excited about, not only maintaining the hard-earned reputation my boys have earned while at the same time creating a great foundation and new tradition of Lady Highlander cross country!”
Team members are looking forward to working with Green.
“I am excited to see what he does with our team and where he [Green] can take us,” senior cross country athlete Kaitlin Laner said, “I feel like it’s going to be a good year with lots of new PRs (personal records).”
Coach Green took over the boys cross country program in 2008 from his father, Coach Dan Green. Juris Green was named the 2017 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Boys Track and Field Coach of the Year.
