No more attendance Awards
This school year, Conroe ISD has instituted new policies regarding attendance. There will be no attendance awards for students and staff, nor will attendance affect exemptions and UIL requirements. The district made the decision in order to help students during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new policy will also not be expected to change at any time throughout the school year due to the possibility that students should stay home if they feel any symptoms related to the virus. This is necessary for keeping students and staff alike safe from any possibility of catching or spreading.
There are benefits that come from the change. Students who feel sick do not have to worry about missing a day and risking losing exemptions.
“One important thing to note is that students are still required to take attendance through Canvas, in addition to other class work that is assigned,” Associate Principal Paul LeBlanc said. Students still have to be present 90% of the time, as attendance will be counted for the state requirement for course credit.
