Starting August 12, all CISD students during the 2021-2022 school year will be able to receive a designated free breakfast and lunch in accordance with guidelines made by the USDA.

The policy was initially made for just the 2020-2021 school year, but was extended to account for the continuation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Students interested in getting free meals can go to the cafeteria and put their student ID in order to be given the designated free meals.

“It helps loads of people,” TWHS cafeteria worker Racqel Printiss said.

“I am glad they are giving free meals,” sophomore Vanessa Tetz said, “My activities are really expensive, and I’m glad my parents don’t have to worry about paying for my breakfast and lunch this year.”

A CISD press release from August 3rd states that, “income eligibility requirements will likely return for the 2022-2023 school year.”
