Uptown Asian Fusion new to Sterling Ridge
A new Asian restaurant has come to The Woodlands. “Uptown Asian Fusion” is a sports bar with some of Asia’s diverse foods and affordable prices.
I took the opportunity to visit the restaurant with one of my closest friends, Tara. When we walked in, there were no other customers except for us and it took a moment for someone to come and seat us. Not only did that take some time, but the hostess did not go out of their way to make us feel welcome. We felt very awkward being there.
The menu had a variety of different foods to choose from along with a little jalapeno symbol representing how spicy an item is, which I really liked. The menu did not have the drinks listed, so we had to specifically ask for what they had. They also only carry Pepsi products, so If you’re a diet Coke fan (like me), I don’t recommend coming here unless you’re ok with drinking something else. Tara got the Strawberry Ramune (a popular Japanese refreshment drink) which she thought was “delicious”, while I just got water.
We ordered the Pork Gyoza ($7.50) as our appetizer. The dumplings were really good and it came with Ginger Soy sauce which really contributed to the taste. As soon as they brought it out, they immediately asked us if we were ready to order and we said no. Instead of giving us time to eat our pork dumplings, they came back only a few minutes later and asked us again, and continued to do this until we were ready. We felt very rushed to give them our order.
Tara and I shared the Lo Mein with Beef ($16) and the Fried Rice with just Egg ($12). Both the Lo Mein and beef were very bland even with soy sauce, but the Fried Rice was worse. The rice was bland as well even with the excess amount of pepper they put in it. When I took a bite of the rice and it crunched (not sure why).
While the food was not the greatest, the decorations were. It was very open with beautiful artifacts and the music was very nice to listen to, but other than that, it was not a very enjoyable experience and I will not be going back.
Uptown Asian Fusion is in Sterling Ridge, right next to Perry’s. They are open from 11am to 10pm during weekdays and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. during the weekends and require no reservations.
Your donation will support the student journalists of The Woodlands High School. Your contribution will allow us to purchase equipment and cover our annual website hosting costs.
