After over a year in development and a July soft opening, Cardboard Heroes LLC, affectionately signed “Sports Cards” atop their 1488 location, had their official grand opening on August 5th. Nestled at the mouth of Kuykendahl, Cardboard Heroes is an oasis for the buying, selling, and trading of sports cards and memorabilia, and a must-visit for the big league fanatics of The Woodlands.
Cardboard Heroes hosts a wide variety of brands, ranging from Topps Baseball cards to the newest Japan-exclusive Pokémon sets, all while conserving a fair price for the consumer. The shop itself boasts a sleek, somewhat blank interior, disrupted by the sheerly staggering amount of manufacturer-sealed inventory they’ve worked to curate. Sealed product is far from all they offer, however, as the shop displays hundreds of singular high profile (and price) cards, both professionally graded and ungraded. Alongside their private ripping and lounging area, Cardboard Heroes also showcases an abundance of card and memorabilia accessories, such as display cases and card protection.
Brent Shook and Solomon Alam, the proprietors of the shop, did not just want to provide a space for sports lovers to revisit their childhoods, but also a bustling and active community for card-rippers across the North Houston area. Cardboard Heroes hosts a variety of communal events, such as weekly trading nights and the occasional livestreamed “break”, in which streamers open merchandise on camera while buyers purchase spots to determine which category of cards they will receive from a box or pack. Through their efforts and dedication to their customers, Shook and Alam continue to vitalize the collectible market and keep the hobby thriving.
Whether you’re a sports card veteran or just ripped your first booster box, Cardboard Heroes has a product for every type of consumer. You can visit Cardboard Heroes at 3776 FM 1488 Suite B, or go directly to their website, shopcardboardheroes.com.
