To improve the safety and security of students, Conroe ISD has implemented new measures making it mandatory to wear a school ID that is visible at all times on students. CISD is one of the last districts making this policy mandatory.
Students will now have to wear badges at all times for the duration of the school day.
Colin Inlger, a student at the 9th grade campus, said he “hates having to wear his id…” Meanwhile, student RJ Mills said that “the policy doesn’t affect me personally and that it’s not a big deal.”
Students’ opinions were divided on whether they felt that this policy benefits the school. Two-thirds of the students said that they see no benefit, but student Rj Mills, stated that the policy was “beneficial”l to the Highlanders, as it helps them get on and off the bus efficiently.
Some students thought the policy change was inconvenient.
“They are uncomfortable and annoying”, but to contrast this “inconvenience”, student Paxton Harmon pointed out that the real inconvenience belongs to students who don’t have the privilege of easily paying $5 for a replacement if something happens to the ID.
This week the Highlanders at TWHS main campus started enforcing this rule for the older students. Although this policy appears to be controversial, it is a here to stay.

Not even grown adults can keep up with ID’S like that. It’s why most of the time you don’t see a server or anybody in a store with a name badge. They just can’t keep up with them. And then there’s the idea of somebody incidentally stealing them acting like a student and causing more trouble. No matter what you do you can’t win for losing on things

I have no problem keeping up with my ID badge. I’ve had the same one since I started back in 2020. Yes, things get lost, damaged, and or stolen, but this is preparing these young kids to be responsible.
