On Tuesday, the Highlander Tennis Team began their journey in the playoffs, and are about to compete at Regionals for a spot in State for what they hope will be the fourth consecutive year. They became district champions after their victories against the other eight schools in their district. TWHS handily won bidistrict (10-0) against Houston Nimitz.
“I’m so excited to keep on progressing on our way to state,” sophomore Eliza Schoenhals said.
They played Area on October 12th against Klein Oak, winning 11-0.
“The team had a great mental game,” sophomore Albany Pulido said. “We were all focused on making good decisions within the game.”
On October 16, the Highlanders played Bridgeland high school for the Regional Quarterfinals title, once again winning 11-0. The team will leave on Wednesday, October 18, to compete at Regionals for the 19th year in a row.
Captain Tania Aburto said,”We’re ready for the next challenge, and we’ll try really hard to make it to State this year.”
