Student Council is currently holding its annual food drive, which ends October 22. It is all online this year and students can donate either through School Cash Online, or by sending a check to Mrs. Davis, the staff in charge of finance.
Because this year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Woodlands, “the township has asked that we join forces with College Park,” Mrs. Bartolazzi, the sponsor of Student Council, said. The goal this year is to unite with College Park to raise as much money as possible for those in need. This show of unity means that the War in the Woods has been canceled, and both schools are expected to work together. War in the Woods, referring to the good-natured rivalry between College Park and TWHS, will resume next year. “We just couldn’t officially do it this year because of what the township is asking us to do,” Bartolazzi said.
The school still has exciting plans for students, though. Eight staff members have volunteered to be pied by the highest donating students during the Homecoming Pep Rally on Friday, October 25. As of now, that would be two students that both donated $50. If they remain the two highest donors, the other six staff would still be pied, by the next six highest donors. If there are more than eight students that tie, students will be randomly selected from the group that donated that amount. The AP representing the last name group that donated the most will also be pied.
So far, the staff willing to be pied are Coach Mac, Mr. Currington, Mr. Scrance, Mrs. Chotain, Mrs. H Leluex, Dr. Landry, Mrs. Bartolazzi, and the AP, who will be chosen after the drive.
The proceeds go to the Woodlands Interfaith, and TWHS Student Council encourages everyone to participate. “If each student in this school would try to give $1, then we could easily raise $4,000” Mrs. Bartolazzi said. The QR Code pictured above leads to the form for donations!
