As the younger generations begin to re-glorify the need for “food that nourishes our bodies,” the economic and corporate viewpoints of the world are taking advantage of these recent trends by significantly raising the prices of local restaurants that promote and sell their products as ‘healthy.’
A clear example of these highly taxed, organic ingredients that are used and admired by people is Nekter Juice Bar in The Woodlands, TX, which promotes their food as traditionally and exceptionally healthy. From many different products–like smoothies, to açai bowls, to cold-pressed juices–Nekter has only received a positive response from consumers who are looking to maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, anybody who has gone to a Nekter location before agrees that paying around $15 for a smoothie that can be easily made at home is not necessarily a great economic choice. Even if most of these restaurants that promote a healthy lifestyle mainly sell products that are more accessible to the public when done at home, many people, such as frequent customer Grant Speakman, argue that Nekter is “worth every cent [they] put into it.”
The Caledonian crew, which consisted of Loretta Rodriguez, Grant Speakman, and Zoha Pasta, are attempting to open up a new chapter in The Woodlands High School Newspaper, by starting a journey of food-tasting in trending food organizations so readers do not have to worry about pricing-or regretting their consumption decisions. Nekter Juice Bar has definitely proven to be a taste-worthy location who does keep their promises in what they advertise. From the taste, to the environment and workers, Nekter was an experience that definitely deserves frequent visits.
When first walking into the Nekter location in Panther Creek, there was a clear welcoming environment that definitely drew customers in–despite the local appeal of Nekter being nonexistent because of their recent expansion into a chain corporation. The Caledonian crew definitely had their doubts in trusting the promise to keep the food organic and healthy, due to their large-scale and nationwide chain restaurants, but the staff and marketing strategies were able to prove them wrong. Zoha Pasta, a current member of the Caledonian, has had the opportunity to become a staff member at Nekter Juice Bar, explaining that their products are delivered fresh each morning and they are nothing short of exceptionally “good for you.”
We ordered many different things off the menu in order to get the full experience at this location, starting with three different smoothies: the Peanut Butter Mocha Smoothie, Mango Delight Smoothie, and the Berry Banana Burst Smoothie. The first thing we noticed was the calorie intake and benefits of the smoothie listed on the menu, with a large range on what each smoothie provided for your body’s well-being. Although the pricing of the smoothies was expensive, the taste and freshness of them made the investment worth it; providing a feel-good experience and rich flavors that ensured the healthiness of the drinks and the real goodness they give consumers. Despite the smoothies being extremely fulfilling and satisfying, we did notice that they were not necessarily a full meal-there was still room for more food.
So, we ordered the Chocolate Bowl, in an attempt to prove the healthiness level of the location wrong–how could chocolate be made healthy? Again, the flavors were right on-point, with a chocolate açai base topped with strawberries and bananas that gave the feeling of eating straight out of a chocolate fountain. The workers explained that even though the bowl still uses chocolate and other “unhealthy” ingredients, the meal still offers every promise made to keep their food healthy and enjoyable. I was amazed at the ability to make healthy food a more promising experience, fighting the bias that even though healthy food is good for your body, it is not rich in flavor.
Finally, we finished the food off with the different types of “Health Shots” they provide at the location, enjoying the Gut Health Shot and the Vitamin D Shot. Although the items were considerably pricey due to their size and intake, they–again–did not disappoint. Many people are familiar with this innovative form of health intake, with energy and health shots gaining popularity in recent years, despite their flavor. However, I cannot promise that drinking these health shots will be the most fulfilling experience of your life, because of the concentrated products and potent flavors that they create. At Nekter, though, the shots were surprisingly passable and enjoyable. And although they were not necessarily tasty, they definitely provided energy and calmness to our bodies afterwards..
After our visit to Nekter Juice Bar, this healthy food location has proven that the high-raised prices of “feel-good food” are definitely worth every single moment of the experience. With products that provide wellness and taste surprisingly delightful, Nekter is a location that–if you are looking for a new way to incorporate a diet–should be visited for a high-quality experience in innovative food that takes an exceptionally modern approach on what healthy food should be.
