This January, Paris Baguette opened its new location in The Woodlands, replacing Crave Cupcakes. I had heard many positive reviews about it, so I decided to visit and see what it’s all about.
Immediately, I noticed how crowded it was. Every single chair was filled and there was already a line forming inside. Of course, it’s important to point out that I went less than a week after opening, so that should change once the craze dies down. The café is organized with a buffet style area where customers can pick out any pastries that they want, then continue down the line with their goodies towards the checkout. Along the way there are closed displays with various cakes that need to be ordered separately. Once you reach the front, you can order drinks or any dessert on display. I thought the layout was very efficient and while the line was long, it moved quickly. Overall the café had a very pleasant ambiance, my only complaint would be that there was no music playing.
For pastries, I ordered a coffee croissant donut and a fruit tart, both of these pastry items had very good reviews on the internet. We thought they were both really scrumptious and tasted fresh. We also ordered an iced chai latte and a vanilla latte. The drinks took a very long time to come out. This is probably because there were so many people who had ordered, but we were waiting for around ten minutes. It was worth the wait, though. The vanilla latte was a perfect temperature, not scalding and the iced drink was foamy and light.
The prices were comparable to other cafes in the Woodlands. Pastries ranging from $5-$8. The larger items, such as the full cakes are more expensive, but the serving size is meant for a group.
Altogether, the food at Paris Baguette was very enjoyable. I would recommend waiting for all the hype around it to calm down, so you can find a place inside to sit down to relax and enjoy. Paris Baquette is located at 2501 Research Forest Drive, The Woodlands, TX.
