On Tuesday, Feb. 4, a green day, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., The Woodlands High School and MD Anderson will be hosting the annual blood drive!
The drive will be held in the lobby and everyone donating has to be at least 17 years-old with proof of age. They also need to bring a photo ID, weigh at least 110 lbs., and be in general good health. Donators also need to eat a full meal within 4 hours of donating, hydrate the night before, and make sure that they do not feel ill before donating. TWHS students that previously donated further recommend that besides getting electrolytes; eat foods that are rich in protein, iron, and filling.
If you are under 17, a family member can donate for you, they just need to have your student ID number. If you donate, you can get 5 free tardies; if someone donates in your name, you still get the tardies.
TWHS clinical practicum and health science theory students volunteer alongside actual MD Anderson nurses running the drive. Donating scheduling times can be found on the QR code above, where you can reserve your appointment. After you reserve your appointment online, visit the clinical students in the cafeteria to finish your sign up, get a pass to leave class, and get details. There is a limited amount of space, so be sure to sign up soon!
