Canes and Chick-fil-A are two of the most popular chicken-serving fast-food restaurants. Despite this fact, I had never had Canes before writing this review. 

As far as a first-time experience, Canes service and speed were amazing. I was thoroughly impressed with how fast I was given my food and how fresh the food was. Though, in my opinion, its competitor’s service is equally efficient.

I got the three-finger combo box from Canes, which cost $9.89–whereas Chick-fil-A cost $9.29 for their equivalent meal. 

Fries are a very important part of the meal. Canes fries are crinkle cut and well salted, though a little soggy (as I find most crinkle cut fries are). Whereas Chick-fil-A fries are waffle cut, well salted, crispy fries–which is my preference.

Canes is famous for their sauce, and it is good sauce–it’s mayonnaise based and peppery, which pairs well with the chicken, though it kind of overpowers the fries. Chick-fil-A has several house sauces; so, if you want a variety of sauces, I would get Chick-fil-A.

Canes and Chick-fil-A a are not both just food chain icons, but chicken champions in and of themselves. Both are renowned for their delicious chicken recipes. However, the main differential between these two is their equally–if not more–iconic sauces. Let’s chow down on who’s better. 

Let’s start off with the pricing. I’m going to look at both of their three chicken strip meals, fries and drink included as they are. The three-finger combo box from Canes was $9.89, while Chick-fil-A’s was $9.29. One thing to note is that while both Canes and Chick-fil-A’s meals contained three chicken strips, fries, and a drink–Canes also came with bread and the chicken strips were larger. Making, in my opinion, the slightly higher price reasonable. Due to these factors, I feel that both prices are pretty equivalent. 

Now for the taste. Starting with the fries, something every place does differently. Chick-fil-A’s waffle fries are the right amount of crispy and often taste amazing, although the salting can be hit or miss. They are also so incredibly big sometimes. On the flip side of this, Canes fires are always salted but can oftentimes be a little soggy. However, in my opinion, the salt in Canes fries just makes them better.

Now for their chicken. Now don’t hate me for this one, but they taste somewhat similar. The only difference is that Canes are saltier and greasier. With Chick-fil-A’s tenders, they are just cooked in a more even way. Now both are great, but I just honestly like Chick-fil-A’s chicken more. 

Lastly, the sauce. Canes sauce is what made them famous; it is a mayonnaise-based sauce with a peppery taste. This works wonderfully with their other menu items–chicken, bread, and fries, but most of all it works so well with the chicken. However, Chick-fil-A is renowned for their numerous sauces. The fact that they have more than one sauce puts them at an immediate advantage against Canes. Now this might be a controversial take, but Chick-fil-A’s Polynesian sauce, with its tropical and tangy flavor, is better than Canes sauce just on its own.

Overall, Chick-fil-A, although having worse fries than Canes, has better sauces and chicken, effectively making Chick-fil-A the true Chicken Champion.
