Three TWHS students competed at a state Wednesday, March 12, at the Texas High School Women’s Powerlifting Association (THSWPA) in Edinburg, Texas. TWHS seniors, Bethany Prior won second place with 895 lbs. and Holly Mullins won third place with 1020 lbs.
Mullins, also, became the first female TWHS powerlifter to earn the 1000 lbs. club status for lifting at least 1000 lbs. at the competition.
“It took me a long time and a lot of hard work, failure is definitely a part of the process,” says Holly Mullins. “Finally, at the last regular season meet, I hit 1025,” continues Mullins, “and then at regionals I hit 1050 lbs.”
Amazing job to our female powerlifters, and go Highlanders!
