It is almost that time! As we near the end of spring, prom is approaching. At The Woodlands High School, prom is an event for seniors only. This year the theme is “City Under the Stars; A Night in New York.”While talking with a few girls from the class of 2025, I found out a few pieces of inside information about prom; what not, and what to do.
The first mission for these senior girls was to find the dress. Laurel Montgomery stated, “It took a while for me, but once it was here, I knew I found the perfect one.” Although searching for a dress can seem stressful and time consuming, these girls deemed it to be quite fun. Bridget Stein said, “I looked on countless websites trying to find my perfect prom dress. It was so fun and inspiring to see the multiple beautiful dresses to choose from.”
When asking Finley Waddell what sites she chose to shop from, she said, “I went to Muzzies in person, but you could also go to Couture House, or online at Peppermayo!” These girls have countless ideas of places to shop, and they all agreed it’s about choosing what you feel most comfortable and most pretty in.
A few of the prom dress trends this year are a slit, one-shoulder, strapless, florals or a fun pattern, and fun pastel colors. Most people wear long dresses for prom, opposing the short formal dresses for homecoming.
Some girls go and get their makeup and hair done at beauty salons around The Woodlands area. Laurel Montgomery said, “I get my hair done at SoCo Dry Bar, but some of my friends go to Uptown Salon, Blo, or Parlour in the Woods.” Every girl agrees that hair is an important part of making your prom look.
For makeup, most people do their own. A natural glam look is what most girls are doing, but it is fun to match the dress to your makeup look. For example, a yellow dress with a light pink pastel eyeshadow, a black dress with a natural smokey eye, or even a red dress with a beautiful brown eyeshadow.
The next thing to get on the calendar is dinner. There are countless places with various dress codes to choose from in The Woodlands. Reese Repa said, “My group is going to The Woodlands Country Club for dinner, but you could also try Sakekawa, Perrys, Fogo de Chão, or Marcoza Trattoria.” Usually, groups take pictures outside near their dinner spot and then go and eat their dinner before heading to the dance. It is usually a good idea to eat somewhere close to The Woodlands Marriott since that is the event space where Prom will be held.
All in all, prom is a very exciting time for The Woodlands High School Seniors. Although there is a lot to plan, it is very easy to talk to friends around and get a good feel for choosing the right vibe for your group. This will be a fun and exciting event to close out the seniors’ last year of high school.
