Recently, The Woodlands High School has had an administration change at both campuses. We have a new principal Mr. Muehsler, at TWHS Main Campus, and Mrs. LeDee, at TWHS 9th Grade Campus. Colleagues describe both of our principals as, “positive, great role models, and most importantly, strong leaders.” We wanted to go more in-depth with them and see what inspired them to take this career path.
“Can you describe the path you took to become a principal?”
Mr Muehsler : “I have served The Woodlands Community as an educator since 1998. I started at TWHS in the Spring of 1998 as a Social Studies Teacher. I then became an Assistant Principal at TWHS 9-10 McCullough Campus in 2003. I came back to TWHS as an Assistant Principal in 2006. In the Fall of 2021, I was named Associate Principal of Operations. In 2024, I became Principal of TWHS Ninth Grade Campus and now the Principal of TWHS.”
Ms. LeDee: “This is my 29th year in education, and it’s been an incredibly rewarding journey. I spent the first 11 years of my career teaching Biology and Integrated Physics and Chemistry, while also coaching volleyball. In 2008, I became a Highlander when I joined The Woodlands High School as an Assistant Principal at the Senior Campus—and from that moment on, I knew there was no other place I’d rather be. I truly love the Red and Green. Last year, I transitioned into a new role as the Associate Principal of Operations at the 9th Grade Campus. In June, I was honored to be named the Principal of TWHS 9th Grade Campus.”
“How does it feel to be promoted to the top of the school?”
Mr. Muehsler: “It is an honor and a privilege to be the Principal of The Woodlands High School.”
Ms. LeDee: “It’s an incredible honor to be promoted to lead the campus as Principal. I feel both humbled and grateful for the opportunity to serve in this role. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly. Being entrusted to guide and support our students, staff, and families is both exciting and meaningful. I’m proud to be part of a community that values high expectations, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to student success. It’s truly a privilege to lead a school I love so much.”
“What do you want to accomplish in your time here?”
Mr. Muehsler: “I want to continue our long-standing tradition of excellence. I also want to create cohesiveness and community.”
Ms. LeDee: “First and foremost, my goal is to create a nurturing, supportive environment that feels positive, comfortable, and collaborative—for both students and parents—as they transition from middle school to high school. This is a crucial stage of development, and it’s during this time that students begin building the confidence and foundational skills they’ll need to thrive throughout high school and beyond. Secondly, I’m deeply committed to upholding our Tradition of Excellence and the strong legacy we’ve built—in academics, extracurricular involvement, behavior, and the high expectations set by our families. My focus is on ensuring that every Highlander becomes a well-rounded individual, fully prepared to make an impact both in high school and beyond. We will continue to teach and live out the Highlander Way every day.”
“Was this your dream job?”
Mr. Muehsler: “There are many people who would love to serve in this capacity at The Woodlands. It was a big moment in my life and family when I was chosen to be the Principal of TWHS. I do not want to be anywhere else. This is my home.”
Ms. LeDee: “As a proud educator, I’ve always been inspired by the role of a Principal—the opportunity to lead, support, and shape a school community. Being chosen to lead this incredible campus is truly a dream come true. It’s the culmination of years of dedication, passion, and a deep love for education. I’m honored to serve in this role and excited for what lies ahead.”
“What is the hardest challenge you faced to get to where you are now?”
Mr. Muehsler: “Perseverance and Patience”
Ms. LeDee: “My biggest challenge has been balancing the dual roles of being a mom and an educator. Both roles demand a lot of time, energy, and emotional investment. As a mom, I want to be present for my sons, supporting their growth, well-being and activities. As an educator, I am committed to providing my students with quality education and guidance. Juggling these responsibilities often means managing competing priorities and limited time, which can be exhausting but also very rewarding.”
“Is there something you would like to change but you can’t?”
Ms. LeDee: “If I could change one thing, I do wish our two campuses were a bit closer in distance. Being about 15 minutes apart can sometimes make collaboration and connection a bit more challenging. However, we work hard to stay aligned and united as one school, despite the physical distance.”
“How would you describe the school’s culture?”
Mr. Muehsler “Our school culture is one of inclusivity, kindness, positivity, resilience, drive and character.”
Ms. LeDee: “Culture is the foundation of everything we do. Our goal is to create and sustain a positive, comfortable, and collaborative environment—one where every staff member, student, and parent feels valued and heard. We believe in open communication, a true open-door policy, and a shared commitment to handling situations in a timely, fair, and consistent manner. By fostering a strong sense of trust and unity, we can work together toward shared goals and a common vision of making all Highlanders be the best they can be.”
