The Woodlands High School started renovations in Spring 2025-renovations ranging from the courtyard, to the auditorium, to the tiles on the third floor. After six months, what’s been finished, what still needs work, and how long until everything is done?
Renovations on the second and third floors have been completed: the floors have been replaced (carpet on the second floor, and non-slip flooring on the third floor), HVAC has been replaced, and the walls have been re-painted.
The renovations on the roof and the auditorium are still ongoing.
The auditorium renovations are rather expansive. Nearly the entire space will be redone: including re-painting the walls, replacing the stage and seating, installing new lights, and adding TVs to the areas around the auditorium. Most notably, the sound booth will be fully replaced, a renovation which will include the addition of a new staircase for the staff’s ease of access
Associate Principal Dr. Wyrick said the auditorium and roof are scheduled to be finished by December. However, the auditorium may take longer: possibly taking up to another year to be completed. Dr. Wyrick does believe that the roof will be done on schedule.
There are also a number of renovations planned for the future. Most of these renovations will begin in the summer of 2026, with the exception of the removal of the current athletic hall trophy case, which is scheduled for the spring break. The trophy case will be moved to the new entrance of the athletic hall. The creation of the new athletic hall will be done alongside the renovations of the interior athletic hall, which is also hoped to be started and finished this upcoming summer.
Some other renovations that are planned to be done this summer include the reworked plans for the courtyard (which were changed following backlash about the original plans), and the finishing of renovations to the first floor. Planned renovations to the courtyard include: extending cover to the entire edge of the courtyard, new outdoor tables being placed beneath the new cover, as well as fans being added to help keep the covered areas cooled.
The hope is the summer renovations will be completed by the start of the 2026-27 school year, however, if not- they will be ready by the end of 2026.
