This year, our school has reinstated a film photography class, providing students with an exciting opportunity to explore the art of film photography. This class was approved last year, and the process went smoothly, considering our school still had all the necessary supplies.
In this class, students have a unique opportunity to learn how to shoot and develop 35mm film. The course begins with digital instruction on a camera’s basic parts and functions, giving students an understanding of how cameras work. From there, students gain hands-on experience practicing with film cameras. They practice their skills in a practical setting, and the proportion of the image.
Once students have taken their image, they move on to the darkroom process to develop their photographs. During this phase, they learn how to process the film and create prints, witnessing firsthand how their pictures come to life through the developing process.
Looking ahead, Mrs.Hill hopes this class will grow so that more students can be introduced to the art of a craft that is slowly dying out but holds artistic value.
