This is my 14th year teaching. It’s my seventh year in this district at this school.
Where were you teaching before coming to TWHS?
So, I taught at Tomball Memorial, and then I opened up Creekside Park Junior High a couple years ago and then I came here.
Did you teach anything prior to Theatre Arts?
Well, I taught Yearbook when I opened up Tomball Memorial. It was a brand new school when I started there. And then when we opened up Creekside Park and I moved over, I had to do Yearbook also because it was a new school. And then I went to just teaching straight theater.
What types of Theater have you taught?
All types of theater. So I’ve taught everything. I’ve taught every tech theatre, regular theatre, performance theatre, combined theatre, which is a class where they’re combined. I have taught Theatre I, Theatre II, Theatre III, Theatre IV, Musical Theater. However, here I only teach Theater I. But prior, I taught all of the things.
What did you do before teaching?
I was an actor. I also had other jobs as well. So if I wasn’t acting- or while acting, depending- I either did restaurant work or banking.
Do you have any favorite acting experiences prior to teaching?
Prior to teaching, I had a company for a little bit, with some friends, and that was a lot of fun because we got to do the shows we wanted to do. That was a lot of fun. I did improv, like I traveled with a troop with improv. That was just different all the time… You just never knew what was going to happen.
Do you have any favorite teaching experiences?
I took a group to Scotland a couple years ago, and that was amazing. For me, it was amazing on a couple different levels. First, it was amazing because as a performer, I had always wanted to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It’s an amazing international festival where there’s usually somewhere between 3,000 to 4,000 performances in the month of August that takes over the whole town. It was like a bucket list thing to do. I didn’t realize that they had a high school circuit. And so then, when I found out, I wanted to take my students. So to get to take students to a thing that I always wanted to do- was amazing!
