Senior Drew Romo was the 27th Highlander baseball player to be drafted by Major League Baseball during head coach Ron Eastman’s time as a Woodlands Highlander.

Romo, an LSU commit, was drafted 35th overall by the Colorado Rockies, and will have to decide whether to sign with them or go attend LSU.

“He is in a great win-win position,” Eastman said. “He could go to one of the top programs in the SEC at LSU or sign and start his major league career. That is a decision he and his family will have to weigh the pros and cons on”

Romo has played with Eastman for the past three and a half years, with this season shortened due to COVID-19.

“He definitely made TWHS a better place and he will be greatly missed,” Eastman said. “Drew checks all the boxes of all the intangibles: leadership, character, work ethic and being a great teammate.”
