Mike Fredrickson is the newest TWHS coach to join the Highlander faculty, and was named Inside Linebacker coach for the program. In addition to coaching, Fredrickson will assist with Boys Soccer, and teach World History.

Fredrickson grew up locally and played college football himself.

“I grew up playing in the southwest side of Houston and was able to earn a scholarship to play for California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly),” Fredrickson said.

Since then, he has coached for 20 years, most recently in the Klein district, and expects a smooth transition.

“I am excited to be in a great community with a great tradition,” Fredrickson said. “I do not think there will be a difference between the schools because both are great programs in the classroom and out on the field. I am looking forward to interaction with the kids and seeing every athlete at TWHS compete for greatness.”

Head coach Jim Rapp is excited to have Fredrickson join the Highlander family.

“He is going to be a great addition,” Rapp said.

Fredrickson is married and has two children, a son who is a former Marine and lives in Omaha with his wife, and a sophomore daughter.
