Freshman Abigail Weaver won a gold medal for her artwork at The Houston Rodeo Art Show last month.
She was 1st place at the Conroe ISD art show, second place for honor roll and won 1st place again for the finalist position.
“My favorite part about winning this award is that it’s such a wonderful feeling being rewarded for doing something that you love,” Weaver said.

Judging is based on individually, perspective, and quality of the piece itself. Her piece is 8×11 and is made from wax prisma colors. It took her about two months to put together.

“I liked the pop of red in the tractor,” Weaver said. “I changed the background to black and white, so the red can stand out even more against the neutral background.”

Art has always been a huge part of Abby’s life and she has won many other awards for different pieces. She plans on studying and pursuing art in the future.

“I would love to attend an art school for college. It’s something I want to pursue in the future even more. I have been approached for art opportunities and scholarships which is very exciting.”
