On Wednesday, Feb. 7, 41 TWHS students signed with a college to play their sport. The sports include: baseball, ladies basketball, cross country/ track and field, football, golf, gymnastics, men’s lacrosse, ladies soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, and ultimate frisbee.

Baseball player Jaxson Breedlove signed to play at LeTourneau University. When asked why he chose this college, he said it was the “first one to offer me and the best one I visited”. He will study aviation.

Caden Cox will play golf at Wichita State University and major in business. He said Wichita State would give him the “best opportunity” to continue playing golf at a higher level.

Gracie Rue has been playing softball for 13 years, and is committed to play at Schreiner University. She is most excited to continue “playing my sport and meeting new friends” in college.

State-qualifier Eli Sam signed to play tennis at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He said, “I feel like the coach was really into tennis. I met the team when I stayed overnight and they were really fun to be around. I’m most excited to have a sense of companionship in college with the team.” He plans to major in biochemistry.

Lauren Donnelly will play soccer at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. She chose to study there because “it gave me a great opportunity to keep playing soccer and continue my education”. She is ready “to continue doing my sport that I’ve been doing since I was 3 and for new opportunities”.

Patrick Miller will continue playing football at the University of Central Arkansas, saying the coaches and school “gave me a chance to play so I took it”. He will miss “my friends and Friday night lights” the most from high school.

Congratulations to all the athletes, and good luck during the next four years!
