Jack is a senior baseball player that has committed to University of Texas, Austin for the 2026-2027 school-year. We caught up with him on his lunch break to ask him about his choice.
Q) What inspired you to commit to the University of Texas for baseball?
A) “[It’s] a very successful program with a track record of getting players ready for the next level, and it’s a highly competitive program with very dedicated staff.”
Q) Have you always known you wanted to be an athlete at UT?
A) “I have always been a Texas fan since I was a little kid, but God lead me to UT’s program”
Q) How did UT’s baseball program stand out compared to other schools you considered?
A) The University of Texas “historically [has had] successful coaching staff and [it’s] highly competitive”
Q) How do you plan to stay disciplined in training and preparation throughout your time at UT?
A) “ Developing a routine and continuing to stay true to my training and believe in God’s plan”
Q) What were the top schools you considered?
A) “Texas A&M, UT and Tennessee.”
Q) What does your UT offer maintain?
A) “Full ride.”
Q) What makes you stand out as an athlete compared to others?
A) “My competitive nature and work ethic.”
Q) Where do you see yourself after college?
A) “Pursuing baseball at a professional level”
Q) What does being a Longhorn mean to you, both as a player and as a person?
A) “Leading by example and giving your best at all times.”
Q) How do you see yourself contributing to UT’s baseball team culture on and off the field?
A) “On the field, I hope to help the team in any way possible and give 110% of my effort at all times. I also strive to represent the high class of the UTs baseball program.”
Q) What leadership qualities do you bring that will help your teammates succeed?
A) “Being a good team mate when the team – and or I – face hardships, and giving my best at any given time.”
Q) What are your short-term and long-term goals as a baseball player at UT?
A) “ Helping my team make it to Omah, and to win the [Men’s College World Series] championship”
Q) How do you plan to balance the demands of academics and baseball at a top program like UT?
A)“Getting into a routine and staying disciplined and dedicated to it”
Q) How will you stay focused and motivated during theoretical tough times or setbacks?
A) “Continuing to have faith in God’s plan and knowing that the hard times will end up making me a better player and person on and off the field”
Q) What kind of legacy do you hope to leave as a Longhorn when your time at UT is over?
A) “Being the player that was always competitive no matter what circumstance, and being successful with my time at UT”
Q) What number do you have at The Woodlands currently, and hope to have at UT?
A) “I have 11, and hope to keep 11 at UT.”
Q) Is your number special to you at all and why?
A) “It was my number for Team USA [the elite national team representing the U.S. in international competition, selected through a rigorous tryout process starting with regional camps] when I was 15. My motivation was for my Pawpaw that had passed away right before.”
Q) What position do you plan to play at UT?
A) “I hope to be a two way infielder and pitcher.”
Q) What are your goals for this upcoming season?
A) “Being a better person to my peers- on and off the field.”
Q) What does your pre game routine look like?
A) “I eat the same meals every day before my games. I have to eat a peanut butter banana sandwich, grapes, and an Orange Dreamsicle Reign drink. I listen to house music and brown noise, and then I go through my pre-throw arm care and my dynamic warm up. Then I jog to center field, say a prayer in center field and then jog back and start practicing throwing”
