The moment I’ve waited nearly my entire life for has finally been fulfilled. With more tears streaming down my face than ever before, I experienced a time that I’ll never forget: my first Billie Eilish concert.
This May, to mine and many others’ surprise, Billie Eilish announced that after nearly half a decade, she would be returning to Texas. It is widely known that Eilish tends to avoid touring in Texas; the last time she performed here was at Austin City Limits Festival in 2021.
On the evening of November 14, 2025, I attended Eilish’s Austin night two concert for the second leg of her “Hit Me Hard and Soft” tour, at The Moody Center. Although I went in with very high expectations, I was certainly not let down: the concert was better than I could have ever imagined.
The Moody Center’s arena was extremely crowded; however, I was able to get into the venue relatively quickly. After entering, the merchandise lines seemed to go on forever, but, after some time, I was able to secure a few shirts, a poster, and a hoodie. There was also a decent variety of food, ranging from pizza to pretzels, and after buying a snack, I quickly headed to my seat to see the opening act.
Starting promptly at 7 p.m., Men I Trust, a small indie band from Canada, arrived on stage and performed for around 30 minutes. The lead singer and guitarist, Emmanuelle Proulx, was center stage, she sang some of the band’s most popular songs: including “To Ease You” and “Show Me How.” I already knew of the band before the show, and had been listening to them for a couple of years, so seeing them live truly felt like a full circle moment.
Following the opening act, which concluded around 7:40 p.m., I anxiously awaited for the arena lights to dim and the music to queue. After 30 minutes – which seemed to last a lifetime- the stage suddenly lit up with flashing white lights. The intense opening music followed. For a split second, Billie Eilish was visible inside a beaming white box, and I couldn’t help but sob.
The first song that was played, ‘Chihiro’ – one of my favorite songs of Eilish’s– was a beautiful way for the concert to begin, forming an intimate and sincere connection with the crowd through her fiery vocals . From the upbeat, to solemn songs, tears remained in my eyes throughout the entirety of Billie Eilish’s performance. Even though I was a decent distance from the stage, the atmosphere was incredible, and I felt deeply connected to Eilish and the other fans.
From the many songs that Billie Eilish played, without a doubt, my favorites included: “Wildflower,” “When the Party’s Over,” “I Love You,” and “The Greatest.” Additionally, Eilish would typically perform at least one surprise song during her concerts: often “Halley’s Comet,” “TV,” or a cover of a popular song from another artist. I hoped she would play “Halley’s Comet,” but Eilish’s famous guitar made an appearance, and, following a brief silence, the instrumentals of “TV” began.
As quickly as the concert commenced, it suddenly came to an end. The song I was dreading to hear, “Birds of a Feather,” the last song on Eilish’s setlist, played as she frolicked around the stage and said her goodbyes to the crowd. By then, it had hit me -hard and soft- that in a few moments Billie Eilish, the person that has shaped who I am today, would be leaving. Still in tears, my eyes locked on the dimming stage lights, I knew that now, I would be happier than ever.
