The Rise of Katie B

From humble Fortnite streams to red carpet events, Katie B has become one of Twitch’s fastest rising stars over the past year.

Twitch is a popular streaming app that launched in 2011 and allows content creators to produce videos in real time, also known as “live streaming.” The most popular streaming categories include gaming and vlogging. Some of the most popular streamers in these categories include: Kai Cenat, Ninja, CaseOh, and Pokimane.

Anyone can stream on Twitch, making this app not only accessible, but highly competitive. Viewer counts can range anywhere from 200 to 20,000 people, making streamers’ success dependent on pure luck and personality. One streamer who has accomplished both is Katie B, who began recording on Twitch early 2025. Katie’s streams originally garnered around a couple hundred viewers. However, she now averages 10,000 viewers per stream.

Katie B first gained popularity thanks to viral TikTok clips of her stream where she would constantly attempt to “edit farm.” These clips then turned into satire edits as opposed to the traditional editing styles you may see across TikTok. This transformed Katie B into a comedic star, rapidly gaining thousands of followers across social media.

However, this wasn’t the only factor that turned Katie B into the superstar she is today. Her viral clips made her more widely known across other Twitch streamers, and she began collaborating with some of the most popular content creators on the platform: Vanillamace, Sketch, Quackity, and more. Katie’s rising status in the streaming world has opened multiple opportunities for her, including her invitations to prominent events such as Ludwig’s Annual Streamer Games, The Streamer Awards, and JasonTheWeen’s NMS Boxing 3 Tournament. Earlier this March, Katie B joined the QSMP, a multi-lingual Minecraft roleplay server created by Quackity. This spiked her popularity, and her cunning humor and popularity amongst the other server members like Ewroon, LinkTheMike, and Jschlatt have built her a diverse community, with some of her live streams reaching 20,000 viewers.

As of now, Katie B continues to be one of Twitch’s most rapidly rising streamers, and is currently ranked number 124 of the most popular streamers according to TwitchTracker. Katie also has an impressive 494,000 followers on Twitch and 1.5 million on TikTok. No matter what content she’s covering, Katie B always manages to bring a smile to her viewers’ faces.

Heyy! My name is Maya and I’m a junior at The Woodlands High School. This will be my first year working for the newspaper, and I’m super thrilled to be writing for the school! Around a year ago I moved to The Woodlands, Texas from Japan, and even though it’s taken some time to adjust, I’d like to think that I’m slowly finding my place in the school. Aside from this, I love to explore the world, and some of my favorite places I’ve been to are Thailand and London. If I’m not traveling, I enjoy listening to music, and my favorite artist of all time is Billie Eilish. Outside of school I spend most of my time working at a small bakery, and I recently have been promoted to manager which I’m very proud of. Thank you, and I hope you enjoy my future writing!
