Orchestra named Mark of Excellence winner
Chamber Orchestra and their award at TWHS.
Chamber Orchestra was named a Commended Winner in the 2021 Mark of Excellence National Orchestra Honors in the String Orchestra division in Septemner.
The Chamber Orchestra is The Woodlands High School’s varsity group.
The group won this award by submitting a recording of their UIL competition pieces to The Foundation of Music Education, and was adjudicated by Gary Lewis and Mark Laycock, both of whom are acclaimed musicians.
“I am very proud and hope to continue our excellence,” lead orchestra director Aaron Michealson said.
Chamber Orchestra was the only group to win this title in Conroe ISD.
Of the 238 groups that submitted recordings, the Chamber Orchestra was one of eight named Commended and National Winners.
