Halloween is the one night a year when a girl can dress however she wants and no other girls can say anything about it. It gives everyone a chance to change their identity just for one night with unlimited possibilities, so who are you going to be?
From Glinda and Elphaba, to Classic children’s book characters, to Sabrina Carpenter, everyone has their own unique costume this Halloween. The style of every costume is different: some are bought from stores like Spirit Halloween or Party City, while others are composed of various pieces scrapped together. There is hardly any time before Halloween starts, so what are some last minute costumes that can be pieced together quickly?
Party Animal
To become the ultimate party animal at whatever event you go to- even a work party – you will need a party hat and a fun animal-patterned shirt. This costume is easy to make and is cute and unique. You can also add makeup to match your animal of choice.
Minion
A minion is a fairly easy costume to put together and has been a popular costume for years now. All you need is a yellow shirt, some overalls, a yellow beanie, and a DIY minion logo to place on the chest area of the overalls. You can create the logo easily. Simply print an image of the Minion logo and iron it onto a piece of felt. Cut out the logo and add a pin to the back, and you’re done!
Witch
A witch is a simple and great last minute costume. You can wear a black dress, or all-black outfit and add a witch hat. You can quickly create a pointed hat from black poster paper, and for a more detailed look, tear the hem of the dress, add accessories like a broom or chunky jewelry, and wear dark makeup. Dark or striped leggings underneath can also help complete a witchy look.
Black Cat
Another simple and easily recognizable costume is a black cat, feared due to the belief that they are bad luck. All you really need is an all black outfit. Cat ears are optional! You can apply some makeup with eyeshadow or eyeliner, though eyeliner is preferred if you want it to stay longer. You can also easily buy cat ears from the dollar store to add an extra touch.
Curious George
Curious George is an easy and nostalgic idea. All you need is a brown outfit, and you can also make simple brown monkey ears, from cardboard or felt attached to a hat or headband.Ears can also easily be bought from a store. A tail will also make a nice addition to your look! To make a tail, use brown fabric and cut a long strip to tie around your waist. If you do not have fabric, you can use a long brown belt to simulate a tail.
Vampire
To become a living dead girl, all you need is an all black outfit and some makeup skills. For makeup, I suggest putting black and red eyeshadow on the eyelids and red lipstick. If you want the bloody effect, smear the lipstick to whatever side you please and add lipgloss to the smeared lipstick to make it look like you just had a fresh tasty meal!
“She Doesn’t Even Go Here” Costume
The iconic scene from Mean Girls, starring Daniel Franzese, is easily a costume that you can accomplish. With a light blue or purple hoodie, sunglasses, and jeans, you can easily become Damian and most people would know who you are. If people are having trouble recognizing your costume, you can put a sign on your hoodie with the iconic line: “She doesn’t even go here!”
Mime
A mime wears an iconic striped long-sleeve shirt and black leggings or pants with an iconic makeup look. To achieve this makeup look, start with a white foundation or facepaint. Next, use a red or hot pink blush to get extremely rosy cheeks. I suggest a powdered blush to avoid messing up your base. For the rest of the makeup look, you can add small card symbols on your cheek. With a little bit of lipstick, you can be the french girl you’ve always wanted to be!
Taylor Swift’s “You Belong With Me” Costume
This costume has been a popular choice for a few years now; honestly, It can never get old! With a white t-shirt, you can draw designs on the shirt that Taylor Swift wears in the beginning of the“You Belong With Me” music video with some black paid pajama pants and glasses. And of course, you can’t forget her note-book letters to the football player. With just a plain note-book, you can write whatever words you want to show to people.
Wednesday Addams
Wednesday Addams costumes have become popular with the release of the new Netflix show, Wednesday, created by Tim Burton. Her iconic braids and black dress outfit are recognizable and fairly easy to recreate. You can braid your hair into two braids to achieve that iconic Wednesday look. To get the dress, all you need is a white button up and a plain black dress. Put the white button on first, button it up all the way, and then put on the black dress. Suddenly, you are looking at the gothic third day of the week.
