I am an avid sushi lover. After trying many different restaurants, I’ve found my top five sushi restaurants in the Greater Houston area and am pleased to share them.
Sushi Rebel
Sushi Rebel has a clean, open space, with comfortable seating and pretty decor. My favorite menu items are the Shaggy Dog and the Teriyaki Chicken sushi rolls. These are both very popular dishes, but they are popular for a reason. They enhance the menu greatly. My general rating of Sushi Rebel would be a five out of five, marking the spot as my favorite.
Sushi Rebel is located in Spring, in a cute area of town you just might want to hang out and explore.
TEN Sushi
TEN Sushi has an eccentric atmosphere. It is often very crowded, and the lights are dimmed so colorful LED lights can shine. TEN Sushi made a nice venue for my Sweet 16 birthday dinner. My favorite menu item here is actually not sushi but their lychee mocktail. It’s sweet and fruity, and I just can’t help but adore it! My favorite sushi of theirs, though, is the Black Widow roll — it’s amazing. My rating of this restaurant would be a four and a half out of five.
This restaurant is in west Houston, so it’s a bit of a drive from The Woodlands, but I think it’s worth it.
Top Sushi
Top Sushi is welcoming with a menu so diverse and delicious I always have trouble narrowing down my options. My personal favorites are the Green Tea Mochi, Red Bean Mochi, and the Rock and Roll Sushi Roll. Their sushi and dessert menus are varied and equally delicious. My overall rating of Top Sushi is a four and a half out of five.
Top Sushi is in Shenandoah, in a very nice area near shopping malls and other restaurants: another area you might want to walk around and explore.
Chi
I love Chi. Their Super Crunch Roll and Shaggy Dog Roll have always been favorites of mine. Chi is open late, and even has an all-you-can-eat deal and menu. It is a large dark restaurant with little cute robots that drive around making deliveries. I’d give Chi an honest four out of five. I don’t go as often as I do to my other favorite sushi places, but I can always count on Chi to be open when it’s late.
Chi sits over by Oak Ridge North, off the North Freeway.
Kura
Kura — although the last on my list — is exemplary. I love the revolving factor: how you get to see all the sushi passing on a little conveyor belt. It’s not just sushi on this belt; fruit and desserts are passed around as well. Their desserts are so delicious! Many of the desserts contain red bean paste, which is my favorite menu item.
At Kura, you can also earn small rewards for the amount of plates you clear! You can earn little trinkets in plastic pop-up balls. I once earned a keychain after 15 plates! My general rating for Kura is a four out of five.
Kura is off of Six Pines Drive in The Woodlands, in a small shopping center.
