Insider’s guide to Chick-fil-a

While Chick-fil-A may be a universally loved fast food chain, people unfortunately tend to stick to the original sandwich and nuggets. While these classics are both great, some people may want a change. Here are three items that I’d recommend ordering if you want a new Chick-fil-A experience, from the perspective of someone who works and eats there every day. Note that every location is different (I work at the mall location), and if another location doesn’t do the same things we do, remember to still be kind to the employees. We’re just doing our jobs.

The Best Sandwich

At most locations, sandwiches can be very customizable and you can adjust to your tastes. I personally like bacon and extra pickles because the bacon adds a nice crunch and the extra pickles bring out the flavor. Not many people know this, but you can add bacon to any sandwich for an additional $1.40 and extra pickles are free. The best sandwich (in my professional opinion) is a spicy deluxe sandwich with colby jack cheese instead of pepper jack, extra pickles, and bacon. The sandwich, including tax, comes out to $7.64.

Grilled Chicken
Grilled nuggets are one of the most neglected menu items. If you’re trying to eat healthier, don’t let that stop you from eating Chick-fil-A. The grilled nuggets and grilled sandwich taste just as good, if not better than their fried counterparts. The healthier alternative doesn’t usually taste good, but this one does. I like grilled nuggets with buffalo sauce (I usually just get 5, but feel free to adjust to your own appetite and preferences).

Fry Hacks
Some stores don’t do this anymore, but at the Mall, Sawdust, and Lake Woodlands, you can ask for your fries extra crispy. I like to get mine double well done because I enjoy the crunch. If you’re feeling a little extra, you can ask for an a la carte piece of cheese (only 30¢) and now you have cheese fries. You might need a microwave to take proper advantage of this hack, but it’s worth it. Both these hacks taste good with buffalo sauce (or sauce of your choice).
