After school this week, my friend Charlotte and I paid a visit to Dosey Doe Breakfast and BBQ, located at 2626 Research Forest Dr B, The Woodlands, TX 77381. There is another Dosey Do, Big Barn, off of the 45 feeder, but this Dosey Do is about five minutes from TWHS. It is a restaurant known for its bacon and live music events.
Immediately we noticed the contrast between the outside and the inside. It is tucked in the back of the plaza, and next to Sonic. From the outside, the facade looks very uninspired. It is a simple white building with nothing memorable on the building itself. While the outside was very bare, there was no open space on the walls inside. Every possible spot was covered with posters and signs. Over the bar, the wall was covered in jars and guitars. There were many road signs and even a vintage radio show light up sign. We unfortunately did not go during one of their live music events, but they had country music playing which fit very well with the overall western ambiance. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the waiter and we were told to seat ourselves. We got very lucky and the place wasn’t crowded at all. There were many seating options and Charlotte and I landed on a booth.
The menu consists of many western-themed dishes and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We decided to stick to the breakfast section- this location offers breakfast all day. I ordered the Belgian waffle with berries and an Iced Chai Tea, and Charlotte ordered the Two Egg Combo with orange juice.
The drinks came out first. The chai tea was delicious, it was milky and not overly spiced with cinnamon. The orange juice came with no pulp and tasted fresh. The food came out pretty quick and was followed by a mouthwatering smell. The Belgian waffle came with butter, syrup, and a separate container of berries. The waffle was warm and soft and all of the components mixed together made for a wonderful bite. The Two Egg Combo consists of two eggs made any way (Charlotte chose scrambled), country potatoes, bacon, and sausage links. She said that the eggs weren’t too dry, the potatoes were perfectly seasoned, and the bacon was enjoyably crispy. The portions of these meals were not small either. We finished them and were happily full.
The prices were very reasonable. Both of our meals cost around $10 with tax. Most of the meals stay within the $10-20 range, unless you order the larger meat heavy meals like the Ribs or Brisket which would be around $30.
Overall, we thought that Dosey Doe’s made for a very enjoyable and comfortable dining experience. The food was delicious, the service was nice and quick, the ambiance was interesting and led to lots of funny conversations, and above all we left satisfied and excited to return another day.
